PE

Developing active, confident children through movement, teamwork and lifelong physical health.

PE

Overview

Our PE curriculum helps children develop physical skills, sportsmanship and a positive attitude towards being active. Through a wide range of sports and activities, pupils build coordination, strength and confidence while learning the importance of teamwork and healthy lifestyles.

How we teach

PE is taught by class teachers and includes key skills in games, dance, gymnastics and athletics. Children learn through structured lessons that focus on movement, control, strategy and collaboration. Swimming lessons take place in Year 4, with additional top-up sessions for Year 6, ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to become confident swimmers.

Impact

By the end of Year 6, pupils can apply skills across different sports, work cooperatively as a team and reflect on how to improve their performance. They understand why physical activity is important and show increasing confidence, coordination and resilience.

How you can help at home

Encourage regular physical activity — walking, cycling, dancing or playing in the park. Talk about healthy habits such as sleep, hydration and movement. Practise simple ball skills or take part in active games together.
