Equality Objectives Statement
The Equality Act 2010 was introduced to ensure protection from discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of specific characteristics (referred to as protected characteristics).
At Ivydale Primary School, we warmly welcome everyone into our community. Staff, pupils and parents work together to create a happy and inclusive environment where every child feels they belong, can achieve their full potential, and grow into a confident individual. We celebrate diversity and foster a positive culture in which everyone can thrive and take pride in who they are. Our learning environment is designed to support all pupils in making excellent progress within a caring, supportive and fully inclusive setting.
As an inclusive community, we are committed to removing any barriers to learning and participation that may affect individual pupils or groups. We strive to ensure equality of opportunity for every child. Our dedicated inclusion team and staff work tirelessly to provide a rich and fulfilling learning experience for all pupils, regardless of social background, ethnicity, special educational needs, medical needs, disability, gender or religion. We also support our parents through coffee mornings, events and workshops, recognising the vital role families play in children’s wellbeing and development, and the importance of working in partnership.
We fully recognise our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and aim to go beyond simply meeting legal requirements. Through our inclusive and globally representative curriculum, assemblies, educational visits and visiting speakers, we actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion. These values are also embedded in our everyday interactions across the school.
At Ivydale Primary School, everyone shares responsibility for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. Our inclusion team plays a key role in leading and supporting this work.
