Most complaints can be resolved quickly by talking directly to the relevant member of staff. If they are notable to resolve the concern, you should arrange to speak to the Head of Schoolor Executive Headteacher. If your concern is not resolved, you should then follow the complaints policy by putting your complaint in writing and handing to the Head of School or Executive Headteacher.

Parents and carers must contact the school by phone, in person or via pupil@ivydale.southwark.sch.uk every day that their child is off school to explain why they are off. No term time holidays will be authorised, so please don't book them. Any unexplained absences are classed asunauthorised and will be followed up.

When a child has high levels of absence or any unexplained absences we will supportthe family to improve attendance.

The policy of the school, the local authority and the Government is to say no to holidays during term time. There are some exceptional circumstances which can be found here.

In all cases an exception term time leave request myst be made in writing. This form is available from the office.

We have a graduated approach to supporting mental health and wellbeing, ensuring every child develops theskills to regulate their emotions independently.

Our team - including teachers, SENDCos, a learning mentor, mental health first aiders, teaching assistants, a pastoral support manager and an educational psychologist - tailors support soevery child can thrive.

Most children benefit from our universal provision, including weekly whole-class lessons using evidence-based approaches such as Circle Time, RULER and Philosophy for Children (P4C) and regular workshops run by external agencies such as The Nest.

These help pupils develop an emotional vocabulary, reflect on their feelings, and learn strategies to manage their emotions.

Some children may need targeted support in small groups or individually, and a few may require specialist input. Parents are always consulted before any referral to external professionals.

If you are worried about your child’s wellbeing, Speak with your child’sclass teacher or the SENDCo/pastoral support manager.

If you have concerns about your child’s learning and/or development, in the first instance, speak to your child’s class teacher.

They will be able to give you feedback on how your childis doing in class. Your concerns will be shared with the Inclusion Team and SENCo to monitor progress.

if your child’s teacher has concerns, they will share them with you and ask for your thoughts and input.  They may well also speak to the school’s Inclusion Team and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for advice and suggestions of additional support. If a referral is made to the Inclusion team, we will contact you to discuss thesupport we can offer.

If a concern is raised by a GP or health or care professional, they will usually communicate with you as the parent rather than the school. They may contact the school for additional information about how your child is doing in school. It’s important that you share as much information about concerns raised or relevant diagnoses your child might have so the right support can be put in place. Please inform yourchild’s class teacher if this is the case.

Ivydale Primary School is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors. The school promotes an environment where children and adults feel confident about sharing any concerns they may have about their own safety or the well-being of others. If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child or of a parent or carer, please talk to a member of staff in confidence.
