Physical education & Sport at Ivydale

Physical education and sport are a central part of life at Ivydale.

We are an inclusive school committed to giving all our pupils every opportunity.

Through a broad and inclusive programme, we help every child build confidence, resilience and a positive relationship with movement that supports both wellbeing and personal development.

Inclusive PE for Every Child

We offer a rich and varied PE curriculum that supports pupils of all abilities. As part of the PE School Sports Network, children develop physical skills, confidence and teamwork through high-quality teaching, swimming lessons in Years 4 and 6, and inclusive provision tailored to individual needs, including SEN support.

Active, Healthy School Life

Daily activity is woven throughout school life. From the Daily Mile to promote fitness and wellbeing, to strong links with our OPAL play provision, pupils are encouraged to enjoy being active every day. Opportunities for Sports Leadership in Years 5 and 6 help children develop responsibility, confidence and leadership skills.

Clubs, Competition & Community

A wide range of extra-curricular clubs ensures there is something for everyone, including football, basketball, multi-sports and yoga. Regular competitions within school and with other schools build teamwork and determination, while events such as Sports Day and the annual ILOF fun run bring the whole community together in the spirit of enjoyment and participation.
