Behaviour for learning at Ivydale Primary School

A love of learning for life

Our Behaviour for Learning policy is designed to ensure that all members of our school community can learn in a safe, supportive and productive environment.

At Ivydale, we hold extremely high expectations for all our pupils in terms of their social interactions, emotional growth and academic attainment. We ask our parents to work in partnership with us to uphold these standards. Through consultation with pupils, parents, staff and other schools, we have developed a refreshed policy and system which supports our vision: emphasising positive achievement, embedding our core values, encouraging positive behaviours and recognising that ‘juicy mistakes’ are vital to learning.

We always celebrate achievement

We place emphasis on recognising and celebrating the positive successes of our pupils.

Achievement is reinforced not only academically but also in social, emotional and relational growth.

Positive behaviour at our core

Our core values are woven into every aspect of school life—our classrooms, corridors, playgrounds and community interactions.

We believe the culture of the school is the soil in which learning thrives.

We encourage positive behaviour

We encourage pupils to adopt habits of good learning behaviour—listening attentively, participating, showing perseverance, collaborating.

We explicitly recognise that making ‘juicy mistakes’ is part of the learning journey—pupils are supported to learn from errors rather than fear them.
